What is an Empowerment Coach?

Empowerment refers to the process of improving one’s life through fostering strength and confidence. Empowerment Coaching with me focuses on the feelings of improvement and elevation of one’s current state of living. Authenticity and empowerment are the focus of my coaching model. Together, we will take a look at what is and is not serving you in life right now; maybe it's time for a paradigm shift.

How is seeing a Professional different than talking to your best friend or family?

The difference is between someone who can and/or wants to do something, and someone who has the training and experience to do that same thing professionally. A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, therapy is confidential. Confidentiality and privacy are the cornerstones of my work. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing my business.”

What is the difference between an Empowerment Coach and a Therapist?

As I have mentioned before, I have my M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#132046). Alongside such, I am an Empowerment Coach. Though my advocacy for mental health services remains the same and my desire to support others on their healing journey is identical, the stylistic approach and framework focus between coaching and therapy can differ. 

While both domains offer support and collaboration, the major difference between therapy and coaching is the focus of the work. In therapy, the focuses on mental health and emotional healing, while in coaching focuses on setting and achieving goals.

How does seeking support work? What do I have to do in our sessions?

Amazing question, but the answer is quite unique. Because each person has different issues and goals for receiving coaching support, each session and it's focus as well as framework will be different depending on the individual.

How long will "it" (i.e. healing, growth, change) take?

Ah I wish I could give you a solid concrete answer. I know how much certainty helps when taking on something new. Unfortunately, this is not possible to answer in a general FAQ form. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time you are receiving coaching support to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek support in the first place.

I do however offer workshops in my Coaching packages in which the curriculum is outlined. Some workshops take up a few hours to half a day while other recovery workshops are group-based and meet once a week for a duration of eight weeks.

How much does receiving holistic support services cost?

Again, I wish I could give you a solid answer. I promise you that I work on a sliding scale and take your circumstances into account. I offer free 20 minute consultations via phone call and/or telehealth services. Additionally, I offer coaching services through 1:1 rates as well as program fees. That is WONDERFUL! I am so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and dedication is crucial to your success. After all, we only see each other for one or two sessions a week (again depending on the program that best tailors to your needs). It’s the work you do outside of our sessions that will really help you see your personal growth and development.
