Self-Care. Empowerment. Mindful Techniques to Help Cope with Life's Ups and Downs.
For years, I have served as a useful source to those seeking inspiration, help, or advice. I finally decided to own that role and be intentional about it. Thus, I am a trainee therapist focused on working collaboratively with people to work through relationships issues which start with the self along with communication and improve self-esteem.

I started writing about my passions, my thoughts, and curious wonderings about our world. I founded The Modern Hippie with a mission to give others a taste of what goes on in my mind, and I have been at it ever since. Take some time to explore the blog and feel free to reach out if you would like to collaborate on a project together.

Everyday Tips to Help You Embody Self-Care Right at Home
Let’s face it, we may strive to nourish our soul with self-love and put ourselves as a priority on our to-do list, but as the perfectly flawed humans we are, we don’t always pass with flying colors on a self-care test. If you are crunched for time or can’t afford a trip to the spa, why not bring the bliss-inspired effects of self-care home with you?! Here are some tips to help you feel renewed and rejuvenated this spring season and hopefully every season.
My Favorite Ways to Unwind
January 1, 2025
You would be hard pressed to find someone who actually enjoys being stressed out. Sweaty palms, racing heartbeat, headaches, and labored breathing are some of the familiar signs that you are physically or mentally strained. When you feel the tension rising, partake in an activity that helps to relieve the symptoms, like popping in a yoga for anxiety DVD, enjoying a hot cup of tea, or taking a break from your phone and tablet.
Why Do We Stress?
The symptoms related to being stressed out were originally meant to protect us from predators and other dangers. However, certain daily activities can evoke this same response, like sitting in traffic, running late to drop off the kids at school, or having a busy day at work. You know the routine: you begin to feel overwhelmed, and suddenly you notice that your heat rate has increased, it is a little harder to breath, and your blood vessels have started to constrict. What’s even worse, is that stress can be harmful to your overall health.
For your own health, and peace of mind, it is important to find an outlet to de-stress, like exercise, mindful walks, taking a bath, calling a friend or even taking part in some art therapy. Constantly living under the weight of continuous stress can lead to more serious health conditions, such as asthma, insomnia, heart disease, depression, and more. Below are five of our favorite ways to destress.
Embracing Self-Love Via Self-Care
To Care for Yourself is to LOVE Yourself
The month of love, or rather the month of being visually stimulated with an abundance of over-sized heart-shaped and bright pink color-coated candies and balloons in almost every shop you walk into nationwide is coming to an end, but that does not mean you should stop showing yourself true love! Love is always in the air with us. It's not seasonal it's daily. Between modern-life schedules, responsibilities, chores and deadlines we are often putting on our own Cirque de Soleil juggling act; thus, setting aside time for ourselves gets lost in the shuffle. We are here to help you slow down (even if it is for five minutes) and prioritize self-care because to care for yourself, to nourish your mind, body, spirit and soul, is to practice self-love and such a graciously manifested affection cultivates nothing but healing powers.
